The film revolves around the life of Sadhu Kokila and its social impact on an orthodox society like Kerala. It depicts how he has one foot stuck in traditional beliefs and another foot motoring together with modernism. Sadhu Kokila plays the role of Avarachan, an orthodox man who stays in a traditional house with his traditional wife Padmini. The couple has a son Aneez. He works as a car driver and is very good with the ladies. While he returns home after finishing work, he finds his mother waiting for him since she is expecting him to take her to Kottayam for prayers. Aneez comes back with her because he doesn’t want to hurt his mother's feelings. During this journey, the couple faces many problems that are highlighted by Sadhu Kokila’s acting skills. Aneez returns home late at night. The next morning, Sadhu Kokila’s wife Padmini goes to the temple with their son. She doesn’t return home till late night, since she wants to go to the temple again in the morning. The next morning, Aneez returns home late in the night this time. The next morning, Sadhu Kokila’s wife Padmini goes for prayers again. Next day when Aneez returns home for work, he finds that his mother is waiting for him when he comes back after having finished work. The reason is that his father just arrived there and is also waiting for his son to take them to Kottayam for prayers. After finishing work, Aneez takes his father and mother to Kottayam for prayers. During this journey, Aneez meets a young girl named Shilpa (Baiju). She is sad because her mother died in an accident and her father left. The family comprises Sadhu Kokila’s wife Padmini, son Aneez and daughter Sona (Sakshi) who is Sadhu Kokila’s daughter from his first marriage. This family has come to the temple for the last time before they shift back to their hometown. They plan to shift back home too after this pilgrimage and will not take up another job again.
